I know I don't know you and you me, but I can tell you that I'm so happy that Jason and I got married by a retired judge in his office with Jason's coworkers as witnesses. I had gone through 3 weddings for my brothers and sister in 1997 and didn't want the stress. I was stationed in Japan, Jason had transferred to WA waiting for me. I got my engagement ring in the mail, a beautiful platinum band with a 1 carat heart shaped diamond. Our wedding cost my flight roundtrip from Narita to WA, a marriage license, and I think like $50 for the judge. We stayed at a bed and breakfast on Anderson Island for our honeymoon and it was lovely. A young lady came every morning to cook breakfast for us. I would have wanted it any other way. My next oldest sister married the December before I did, she lived in St Louis, but had lived in CA at one point so she had all her friends and family that could attend go to CA for hers. Our family is from TX and the in laws are from SD. I think Karma got her good for not being sensible. Her dress got damaged so she had to throw it out. Good luck, my parents understood that I just wanted to get married without the hassle of all the planning. They hadn't even met Jason before we got hitched and they love him.

Hmm... have you thought of looking into some Houston museums or maybe the arboretums - the one across from Memorial Park & Mercer Arboretum? I know the Museum of Natural Science has a nice venue. Oh, and there is the new park, Discovery Green - I believe they have an events venue...

It's been 10 years since we planned ours so I have no idea about pricing anymore other than everything has gone up.

Just a quick note to test the comments. I am really excited but I've determined I'd like the wedding to be 1. beautiful 2. easy 3. inexpensive. It seems that 1&2 are possible but not 3. Or 2 & 3 but not 1. Or 1 & 3 but not 2. Any advice?
