Alright! Fine, I’m back. I, uh, fell behind on Nanowrimo *cough* but I’m not giving up. I’m still in the game, though I have quite a bit to catch up on. Chris asked me last night if I had quit and I realized I haven’t–though it seems that I have because I haven’t written much. I did write some this weekend…some, not much. I could theoretically catch up.
So, what have I been doing for the last two weeks instead of writing? Well, procrastinating of course! Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow? Or as Douglas Adams so aptly put, “I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by.”
I’ve been reading a lot. I’ve read:
- Even Cowgirls Get the Blues by Tom Robbins
- Diary by Chuck Palahniuk
- I’m almost done with a collection of short stories by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
I’ve also watch a couple of movies:
- Name of the Rose
- Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
- Mr. Brooks
- Knocked Up
- Mean Girls
- Meet the Parent
- Meet the Fockers
I’ve been working I’ve:
- Published a quarterly e-mail newsletter as project manager and editor
- Written 9 or ten pages pieces of copy for various resources and business partner write-ups
- Attended 4 scheduled conference calls in addition to various impromptu calls
Finally, I’ve been sort of keeping house: laundry, bills, cooking, cleaning etc. LOL. Does any of this convince you that these are good excuses for not writing? No? Me neither. But it makes me look busy doesn’t it. I wonder if by procrastinating writing if I’m not getting more done than usual just to avoid writing.
In the spirit of procrastination, here is a meme I found over at Shapely Prose. Of course my creative and independent spirit has changed it a bit. Instead of typing the answers into Google image search and posting the first image, I typed the answer into Flickr and I’m posting the most interesting result (except in the case where I’ve mentioned).
