As far as celebrities go, I really like Tina Fey. She appears to be smart and funny, two qualities I find wholly satisfying in a woman. She comes across genuine, but you never really know with celebrities. Appearances can be deceiving especially in industries as big as show business and politics.
Regardless, Friday night I saw Mean Girls, which Fey wrote. Not only was the writing quick, but the soundtrack was good too.
When I was in high school there were some “mean girls” but not as mean as these girl in the movie. The overall message was good, which was, get a life and get over yourself—two philosophies I endorse. And the whole animal analogy thing really worked for me.
It was kind of a girlie movie but the writing was quality and that pulled it out of the stereotypical teenage girl movie category for me.
Oh, and as a side note I saw Van Helsing. I didn’t really expect much, so it was a nice little diversion. It reminded me of that video game from the early 90’s, where your character get’s “powered up” into a werewolf. I can’t remember the name of it, but we played it on our Sega Genesis 16-bit video game.
